Eggs. Fall and Spring Season. In Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda eggs are are nourishing, moisturizing, and improve lung health. Easy Meal: pair a few eggs (made the way you like) with some seasonal greens, fresh, ground corn tortillas, and sautéed potatoes with peppers, cucumbers, salsa and guacamole. You will have a substantial meal that will ground you and carry you until you are ready to eat again. In addition, the potatoes and eggs are powerful nourishment for your brain and heart. Historically in the Fall and Spring the mind is over active. During Fall and Spring, emotions are easily triggered because the earth’s eco-system is in a dynamic changing process and transition. The extra energy brought forth to clear the trees and pull up those new seedlings impacts us two legged, HUMans, too. When you prepare a balanced meal and enjoy it mid-day you will help ground your system and the energy around you.

Do you like black licorice? This is definitely a particular taste that not all people enjoy. If you do like licorice, the root is one of my Spring and Fall allies to enjoy as a tea, a tincture and/or sweet treat. It has been shown to nourish your lungs + liver, stand in as an expectorant, give you a helping hand with the common cold and even keep your mouth in order. If you have any viral loads or bacteria replicating in your body, it can help put a stop to an unnecessary outbreak. Licorice will shown up and given your body protection against all kinds of microbes connected to things named, like Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Candida albicans (to name a few). These are just a few of the potential benefits nature built into the licorice root. Your emotional body will be singing praises for licorice as she will help you release grief, calm the anger and vanquish fear. Suddenly you will remember you are whole, filled with patience, overflowing with joy and stand in courage.
Finally, you do not need to wait till you have a problem to call upon licorice root, you can integrate a little of licorice root as a tea after a meal in the Fall and Spring or anytime of year if needed. This would be a proactive way to help you nourish your body before an imbalance sets in. Furthermore, you might see if your body asks you for some licorice and then abide in it.
As inspired, listen, investigate and try it out.

Ashwagandha, has become a trending herbal friend across the world. It is commonly found in India, Africa, and the Middle East. In addition, Ashwagandha is an adaptogen.
“Adaptogens are plants and mushrooms that help your body respond to stress, anxiety, fatigue and overall wellbeing. You can take adaptogens by adding them to food or beverages or take them as tinctures. Adaptogens bring your body back to a steady balance by managing both physical, mental and emotional stressors.” Cleveland Clinic
In Ayurveda medicine, ashwagandha is used to reduce stress, reduce anxiety, eliminate pain, improve sleep, reduce inflammation, improve focus + memory, improve immune function and reduce signs of aging. In Chinese Medicine, the equivalent would be Ginseng. In areas of eastern North America and the mountains of some European countries this would be Rhodiola. While they are similar they are best to be consider based on what is out of balance in your system and your constitution.
During both Fall and Spring, ashwagandha is a valuable herbal friend and can assist in balancing hormonal levels for men and women alike. Coupled with helping reducing over all stress for those who live with chronic stress. This includes reducing cortisol levels. There are precautions (like with anything you ingest) you are best to avoid during pregnancy, breastfeeding and prior to having surgery. To be mindful, you will want to receive a professional evaluation from myself or another trained practitioner based on your state of being and other medications and supplements you are taking. Finally, it has been found that ashwagandha is not recommended for those with autoimmune conditions or thyroid imbalances.
