The symptoms or manifestations of this distracted state (viksepa) are mental and pain, anguish, turmoil, despair, tremors, rough and erratic breathing, and general nervousness and anxiety.
The remedy (pratishedha) for these obstacles is ever increasing our practice (abhyasa) of one pointed dedication and devotion to the truth (eka-tattvabhyasa) — the continued practice of rooting out those obstacles of self delusion, and letting go of falsehood.
By cultivating (bhavanatas) friendliness and loving kindness (maitri), love (karuna), happiness (mudita), equanimity and sympathetic joyfulness (upeksanam) in [all] conditions (visayanam) and beings whether it be joyful or painful, auspicious or not, a sweet grace arises that establishes a clarity of the heartmind (citta-prasadanam).”-Patanjali
